Practical guide

Planned vs Unplanned Power Cuts in Tamil Nadu

Understand scheduled maintenance interruptions versus unexpected faults, and how to respond to each.

← All guides

Planned shutdowns

These are temporary interruptions arranged for maintenance or network work. Notices may include a date, affected areas and an expected time window.

Unplanned outages

Equipment failure, weather damage or other faults can interrupt supply without advance notice and may not appear in a schedule.

Check the right listing

Review today’s and tomorrow’s shutdown pages and your district page. A missing notice does not guarantee uninterrupted supply.

Report an unexpected outage

Record the locality, outage start time and any hazards, then contact official TNPDCL support for a complaint reference.

Treat restoration times as estimates

Planned end times can change if additional work or safety checks are required.

Check local information

Visit today’s shutdown list, tomorrow’s list or browse Tamil Nadu district pages. Confirm time-sensitive information with official TNPDCL notices.
