About TNEBPowerCut.in
TNEBPowerCut.in is an independent, volunteer-run information site for people trying to make sense of a power cut in Tamil Nadu: is it planned, when will it end, and who do you actually call.
It isn't run by TNPDCL, TANGEDCO, or any Tamil Nadu government body. Where this site quotes numbers, tariffs, or contact details, it links back to the official source so you can verify it yourself — see the data sources page.
It exists because the official channels are scattered across a website, a call centre, and per-district offices, and there wasn't a single, fast place to check all three plus run a quick bill or inverter calculation.
Why this site exists
Finding out whether the power is going to be off in your area in Tamil Nadu is harder than it should be. Shutdown notices are published in scattered places, sometimes as newspaper announcements and sometimes as images, and they are rarely searchable by the name of the street you live on. TNEBPowerCut.in was built to put that information in one place, in plain English, on a page that loads quickly on a phone with a weak signal.
What you will find here
- Today's and tomorrow's planned shutdown listings, and an archive of all listings.
- A page for each of the 38 districts of Tamil Nadu with local outage information and the right numbers to call.
- A bill calculator that applies the domestic tariff slabs so you can check a bill or estimate the next one.
- A complaint drafting tool for unplanned outages, and guides covering everything from reading a shutdown notice to choosing a backup power option.
Who runs it
TNEBPowerCut.in is run by a small independent team based in Tamil Nadu. It is not a government website and has no affiliation with TNPDCL, TANGEDCO, TNERC or the Government of Tamil Nadu. Every page that reproduces official information links back to the official source, and the data sources page explains where each type of information comes from.
How we work
Shutdown listings are compiled from published utility notices. Tariff and helpline information is reproduced from official material and reviewed when a new tariff order or circular is issued. Guides are written by our editorial team from that same material plus everyday experience of power supply in Tamil Nadu; they are reviewed and updated rather than published once and abandoned. Our editorial policy sets out how we handle corrections.
How the site is funded
The site is free for readers and is funded by advertising. Advertising has no influence over what we publish, and no listing, guide or recommendation on this site is paid for.
Contact and corrections
If a listing is wrong, a number has changed or a tariff figure is out of date, please tell us through the contact page. Corrections are the single most useful thing a reader can send us.
