Power cuts in Tiruppur: what to expect
Tiruppur is the export-garment hub of the Noyyal river banks in western Tamil Nadu, and India's largest knitwear and garment-export cluster means the district's HT (high-tension) industrial feeders are managed separately from the LT feeders that supply homes around Tiruppur city and Avinashi. A shutdown on one doesn't always mean the other is affected — check which feeder type a notice mentions if you're unsure.
Before a scheduled shutdown in Tiruppur
- Charge phones, inverter batteries and power banks the night before.
- Keep the 1912 helpline saved and your service connection number handy — it speeds up any fault report from Tiruppur city or nearby.
- Unplug fridges, TVs and computers a few minutes before the cut and after restoration, to avoid surge damage.
- Keep the 1912 helpline saved, along with your service connection number.
Frequently asked questions about Tiruppur power cuts
How do I know if there's a shutdown in Tiruppur today?
Check the live listing at the top of this page — it pulls directly from TNPDCL's published shutdown notices for Tiruppur district, including areas around Avinashi. No listing for your area usually means either there's no scheduled cut, or the notice hasn't been published yet.
Why does restoration time vary across Tiruppur district?
It depends on what's being worked on — a simple line inspection near Avinashi finishes faster than a transformer replacement elsewhere in Tiruppur. The notice's stated end time is TNPDCL's own estimate for that specific job.
Does Tiruppur district have its own power complaint line?
It shares the statewide 1912 helpline with the rest of Tamil Nadu, available 24x7. Your section office covering Avinashi and the surrounding area will also have its own number printed on your bill.
Is the tariff different for industrial areas near Avinashi?
Domestic household rates are the same statewide slabs used across Tiruppur district. Commercial or industrial connections near Avinashi follow a separate tariff category not covered by this domestic calculator.
Do industrial areas in Tiruppur get separate shutdown notices from residential areas?
Often, yes. Tiruppur district's HT (high-tension) industrial feeders serving India's largest knitwear and garment-export cluster are usually maintained on a different schedule than the LT feeders supplying homes in Tiruppur city and Avinashi, so a notice for one doesn't always mean the other is affected.
